**The cells are base cooled. We do not recommend faster discharge due to temperature gradient within the cell. Longevity of cells which are used above 1C discharge rate will be related to the effectiveness of the customer-supplied Battery Management System and Thermal Management System.
APP EV uses a lightweight carbon-Kevlar-fiberglass composite housing to encase its battery packs, which provides several advantages over common steek-encased battery modules. In addition to overall weight reduction of up to 80% of comparable steel battery packs (each pack weights only 229 lbs. dry), this material is highly resistant to corrosion from chemicals and outside elements and it provides superior impact resistance.
Our battery pack cases are fully sealed, allowing installers to mount them in any orientation, even upside down!
Our Modular Battery System’s single-string design minimizes complexity and Battery Management System cost. We use Kore Power batteries, an industry leader in energy storage solutions. APP EV’s Modular Battery Packs deliver 78 kWh of energy storage, which delivers the range you need to enjoy driving your vehicle without concern.
Each pack includes 8 battery modules in a 3S4P (three series, four parallel) configuration with insulated copper busbars.
The BMS monitors every series connection to ensure optimal cell balancing when charging/discharging, and ensures that the cells operate in an ideal temperature window. Thermistors are applied on opposing ends and in the center of each module to measure average temperature to activate fans and cooling, and de-rate power if necessary, for safety and longevity.
APP EV’s universal modular EV battery packs feature active cooling plates with quick release OEM automotive connectors. The battery packs feature a fixed cooling position for the ports, however users can select which port is for input flow and which is for output flow (bi-directional ports).
We use OEM Automotive go/no-go Amphenol connectors with an integrated HVIL (High Voltage Interlock Loop) that is wired to an external Low-Voltage (LV) bulkhead connector. This design ensures the highest degree of safety and simplifies the integration process.
An Amphenol 400A Fused Manual Service Disconnect (MSD) HV kill switch is integrated into every pack.
