APP is pleased to introduce the first Plug & Play EV Conversion Kit for Porsche 911s. This system was designed for the Porsche Purist, meaning the manual transmission is retained, handling characteristics are slightly enhanced, and a choice of three power modes includes a base performance map that mimics the output of the factory internal combustion engine. Additional maps include a high-performance map and a traffic gear map (automatic).
APP EV’s Conversion System for 1969-1989 F- and G-Body Porsche 911s does no harm to the vehicle. Every EV component installs using existing mounting locations. This makes it fully reversible if desired, and owners can store the internal combustion engine in the wooden crate the EV conversion system is shipped in. OEM LEVEL FIT AND FINISH
APP EV 3D scans every vehicle to ensure exact fitment of its subframes and components. The Cascadia Motion electric motor and 4 carbon fiber-encased battery packs are pre-installed on a carbon fiber subframe that installs using existing mounting locations using hardware that is designed to withstand deceleration rates of 20G.

We manufacture them in-house and safety test (FEA) them (they are designed to survive deceleration rates of 20G and more). Two carbon fiber subframes are used in the APP Porsche 911 EV Conversion Kit; one for the battery pack in the front, and one for the motor/inverter and battery packs in the rear.

MOTOR/INVERTER
Our EV conversion kit uses a Cascadia Motion motor/inverter. Cascadia Motion is an OE supplier (BW) and industry leader in electric drive motors. This 400V motor/inverter combo produces 225 kW (320 HP) / 500Nm (369 lbs-ft TQ) max output.

PERIOD-CORRECT GAUGES
To maintain a period-correct look, we use Speedhut-designed gauges that connect via a single plug, and replicate factory gauge cluster with EV relevant displays. Operator touchpoints are carefully preserved to ensure that your driving experience maintains its classic elements.

HV CONTACTOR BOX
A high voltage contactor box houses all of the HV switches, relays and contactors, and is essential to properly managing the HV system’s power demands.
73 kWh BATTERY PACK
Safety and weight savings are paramount, which is why we manufacture our battery pack enclosures using high temp glass fiber with BMI resin, impact resistant Kevlar, and a carbon-fiber outer casing. This construction amounts to a weight savings of 80% over standard steel enclosures. Our packs exceed industry standards for degas flow.
Our battery pack consists of 8 modules per pack, with four packs totaling 73 kWh (400V) in a 3S4P configuration. The pouch cells in each module are vehicle manufacturer tested and are sourced from A123, an OEM supplier.

Our battery pack is comprised of 8 modules per pack, with four packs totaling 78 kWh (400V) in a 3S4P configuration. A single external Orion BMS is used to control all four packs. The pouch cells in each module are vehicle manufacturer tested.

BMS
The BMS is sourced from Orion, a leading industry supplier. The BMS monitors four cells run in parallel with a 3-series connection (3S4P configuration). The BMS monitors every series connection to ensure optimal cell balancing when charging/discharging, and ensures that the cells operate in an ideal temperature window. Thermistors are applied on opposing ends and in the center of each module to measure average temperature to activate fans and cooling, and de-rate power if necessary, for safety and longevity. This spec was determined by A123, the battery supplier, as the established method for managing its battery temperatures.
DUAL COOLING LOOPS
We include two cooling loops in our EV conversion system, one for the motor/inverter which is controlled by the VCU, and one for the battery packs which is controlled by the BMS. All system parameters are pre-programmed to ensure maximum performance and component longevity.

VEHICLE CONTROL UNIT
AEM EV’s VCU is the central processor that commands the vehicle’s propulsion and controls or oversees all electronics operations. This system is fully calibrated by APP EV to deliver three power modes, and control all of the vehicle’s systems – from regen to window switches – once it’s connected and powered up.

APP EV Conversion Systems include Level 1 and Level II charging capability. A full charge can be obtained overnight in your garage.
